Rapelang Rabana, the co-founding CEO of Yeigo Communications who is also popularly called the Africa’s Marissa Mayer covers the August edition of Forbes Africa. She has also been listed as one of the young entrepreneurs changing the face of Africa on the Forbes ‘30 under 30: Africa’s Best Young Entreprenuers’.
In a previous interview with Ventures Africa, She said this: “Most of us will be familiar with the Chinese proverb about teaching a man to fish as opposed to giving him a fish. My proposition is: teach a man to fish and you will teach him for a lifetime. Expose a man to the internet and he will change his life”
The world is changing on an accelerating rate and these changes are bringing challenges right to our doorsteps especially as women. One sure way of facing these challenges is to harness the power of knowledge and place it at the heart of all our activities – family and marriage, personal growth, financial, physical, professional, social and spiritual etc – by tapping into healthy and useful information readily available through various sources within our grasp, especially the internet.
We need to recognize the tremendous need for us to participate in life long learning by having extensive information about everything we do! Planning our lives and making daily decisions requires masses more information than our mothers needed when they were our age, but the good thing is for every new thing you need to learn there are many online resources that will help.
We agree with Rapelang Rabana, internet does have a trenmendous power to change lives, if we are willing to make good use of it.
