Her Father Is Bisexual. She Knows, But Her Mother Doesn’t

Angry

Editor’s Note: It’s Wednesday again and time for another Real Women, Real Issues! What will I do if I find myself in Kemi’s situation? I really don’t know. I’ll probably put the man under pressure to tell his wife, because I really think the mother should know. But hey, that’s just me, it will be nice to know what you all think.

Kemi* says;

I caught my father having sex with one of  his younger male colleagues. It was a Friday afternoon, my mother was out of town, my younger ones were in school  and I was not supposed to be back from work too. I got terribly sick and I decided to go back home.  I was shocked when I opened the door and saw my father and his younger colleague on the couch. He comes around to our house frequently with his girlfriend and he has become a close family friend to us all.

They both begged me not to tell my mother and swore that was their first time. My father said he will change and will never do it again. I told him to confess to my mother but he said it will destroy their marriage.

I really think I owe it to my mum to let her know she is married to a bisexual but I don’t want to be the one to destroy our home and their marriage of twenty six years. I haven’t told my siblings either, I am the first child and they are still teenagers.

Should I let it go and pretend it didn’t happen? – Kemi

    A father should never put a child in this type of situation. This isn’t about choosing, he should be the man and own his mess.
