One day I went to the salon to weave my hair because there was no one at home to do it for me. One of the girls at the salon offered to help me out. She seemed so nice at first. I carefully explained exactly what I wanted and she claimed she understood (I wonder why they can never admit they don’t know how to make the hairstyle!), but then she started doing another thing on my head! At first I thought she was just doing it a different way. But then it became obvious she was doing something completely different.
I told her but she got so defensive claiming it was the right style. She was just shouting and complaining about me being so difficult even though I was paying so “little” (like I don’t have a right to complain, it’s my money and we had an agreement!) She eventually left my hair and someone else had to do it for me.
Some years ago, I was so obsessed with this Cleopatra hairdo with full bangs. So I decided to try it out. I went to a salon close by my house I explained the hairdo to the lady (Big mistake! Always show a picture of what you want) she said she could make it, I was happy, feeling myself.
In my head, this is what I thought it would look like, and this is what I got;
I was so devastated! The hair was terrible! You know how sometimes something is so bad you don’t even know where to start from in your complaint, that’s how I felt. I couldn’t loosen it immediately, I mean I had spent my money just to make it. I couldn’t be so wasteful.
After a short while I decided to change up the look thinking it would look better if I cut it short. Again I was wrong.
I’ve never had a good fringe hairdo… so sad. But I would try cutting and styling one myself. Recently I made up my mind to give salons another try… I won’t say it was a bad experience because they were really nice. BUT it took forever to finish my hair (just a simple long hairdo with middle part) they kept shuffling between me and other customers. I spent about 5 hours in that salon. I am still on the look out for the best hair salons in Lagos.
I would love to hear all about you worst experience at the hair salon.
