When you mention fine arts and fashion photography in Nigeria, Toyosi Faridah Kekere Ekun is a name that should come to mind. Her journey started when she got her first Polaroid camera at the age of thirteen and she hasn’t stopped shooting since then.
Finding her way to Speos Photographic Institute after studying Politics and International Relations in University, Toyosi has proven that dreams can come true if you have the courage to pursue them. Her hard work and consistency has helped her to become a poignant and evocative young Nigerian fashion, beauty and portrait photographer.
Toyosi’s impeccable photography is an art that captures the imagination and this is translated through her work. Her famous debut collection of photographs titled ‘Induction’ chronicles a turbulent time in the life of the artist, highlighting her experiences dealing with introspective explorations of faith and the world around her. It is safe to say that it’s an admired work of art celebrated by everyone.
When asked what the highlights of her journey and latest aspirations were, Toyosi stated;
“The beauty has been in the journey for me, getting from what I had to do to what I love to do, which is working for me. My new dream is to become a polyglot.”
