FIRST WOMEN: First Nigerian Female National Force PRO



In a sector dominated by men, a woman rises to prominence on the ladder of hard work, merit and perseverance.

Olabisi Alofe Kolawole is the first female national Force Public Relations Officer .The glass ceiling breaker was assigned this role earlier this year.

Olabisi Alofe Kolawole is a woman who holds education in high esteem. From her first degree to the present, she has gone all out to achieve excellence. ACP Olabisi Alofe Kolawole attained a Bachelor degree of Law (LL.Br) at Ogun State University in the year 2000.She went on to obtain a (BL) degree from Nigerian Law school after which she was called to bar in the year 2002.She, then, forged ahead to attain a Master’s degree in Police Leadership and Management (PLM) from the University of Leicester, United Kingdom.

A woman of courage, Olabisi Kolawole has been actively and passionately involved in policing both at national and international levels. Before her appointment as PRO she has held several positions at the national level such as Legal Adviser, Administration officer and Intelligence officer among others.

Internationally she has served at quite a number of United Nations Missions including in East-Timor 2000, Kosovo 2004, Liberia 2006 and at the DPKO UNHQ, New York 2007.

Olabisi Kolawole is a woman who is passionate about the empowerment of women. Before her appointment, she was the Force Gender Adviser. In 2013, she took the POC/Sexual and Gender Based Violence Course at COESPU in Vicenza, Italy .In the same year, she was actively involved in the Investigation of cases of Sexual and Gender-Based Violence as International crimes at the Rule of Law and Anti-Corruption Centre, Doha, Qatar

Education has been a big part of her journey as she has attended several trainings both locally and around the world to bring her to the level she is now. Some of them include the Standing Police Capacity Training at the National Police Institute, Bramshill, London, in 2007, Counter Terrorism Studies at the University of St Andrews, Scotland in 2008, The Protection of Civilian Train of trainers course, National Defence College, Abuja in 2014., the Policy, Strategy and Leadership Course, National Institute of Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPPS) ,Jos in 2014, the Tactical Leadership and Command Course (TLCC) Police Staff College, Jos in 2014 and the Public Relations Course, Public Service Institute, Abuja in 2015.

ACP Kolawole is also a member of a number of organisation & associations including Nigeria Bar Association (NBA), International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA),International Association of Women Police (IAWP), International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP), United Nations Women Police Network.
Until her appointment as the Force Public Relations Officer, Kolawole Olabisi was the Deputy Director of the Directorate of Peacekeeping and the Police Force Gender Adviser.

Olabisi Alofe Kolawole is proof to women that any glass ceiling can be shattered, all it takes it determination.
