Three Things I Learned From Funke Bucknor-Obruthe On Balancing Work & Family

Funke Bucknor-Obruthe is the founder and CEO of Zapphaire Events, a successful event management outfit in Nigeria.  Funke Bucknor is also a motivational speaker, a writer, and is the Vice President of APPOEMN (Association of Professional Party Organizers and Events Managers of Nigerian). She is also an associate member of Wimbiz (Women in Management and Business) amongst other things.

Funke is also a mother of two and wife to a supportive husband.

With all these and much more, how does she still remains a success in both her business life and family.

I learned three of her tricks!

In her interview with News Watch Times,  I learned about compromise and delegation;

“Balance and a compromise. That is why I always say that no woman has it all, it is just how you balance it at any given time. For example, do you have to wake up extra early to be able to take the children to school because you know you may not be there when they go to bed? How have you put things in place? How have you delegated duties? My mum is there to help with the children while I also have a cook.

In another interview with Brand Icon Image Magazine,  I learned about the importance of a good support system;

It is very good to have a support system and I thank God for that…Family isn’t just about being married to someone or having kids for someone..Thank God for my husband because he understands me and the nature of my job. You can’t be an event planner if your husband does not understand. Your husband cannot expect you to get home and start washing clothes or do things that are stressful knowing that you have had a long day. Your husband has to help you and support you, and that is my prayer for a lot of couples in this situation..
