Dear Naija Men, Sending Me Your Dick Picture Without My Consent Is Sexual Assault

shocked

My friends and I were catching up on life, work and of course men, over the weekend. Along the line we started talking about sexting, and it is so shocking that every single one of the six of us has received unsolicited dick photos from men, including the married women.

Apparently this is like an epidemic in Nigeria now – the young, the old, the single, the married, the poor, the rich – all of them sending pictures of their penises up and down. The most annoying thing is that these men are mostly married men.

So you meet a guy casually, sometimes even on business or at work, you exchange numbers and few days later a photo of his dick pops up on your phone!

Sometimes this happens after the men have asked you out and you have said no or still considering, and sometimes the they may not have even asked you out at all. In their perverse mind sending you a dick photo is a perfect way to show their interest in you.

Then they have the audacity to ask you to exchange the “favor” by sending them photos of your boobs and vagina. Excuse me!

The married ones usually accompany the photos with questions about what you think. I guess they want some validation that they still have ‘it’!

I was chatting with an old school mate sometime ago, he is a Business Analyst and so I was running some ideas by him, all was going well until he dissapeared for some minute and the next thing I saw was his dick staring at me. “All work and no play..”, he captioned the photo. I blocked him right away!

I still wonder how it all went from business to nudes.

It is this same mind set that fosters the rape culture, men thinking they have a right to show up when they have not been invited. Shoving their dicks without the women’s consent.

Dear Naija men,

– When you send your dick photo to a woman without her consent, it is sexual assault.

– If you ask a woman if you should send a picture of your dick and she says no and you still go right ahead to send it, it is sexual assault.
