Many women go to their Pastors when they need advice on life issues. While there is nothing wrong in getting support from your Pastors, we need to realize that they are not experts in every single thing so they may not be able to offer you the professional help you need.

Marriage is one area of life where many Nigerian women need professional help. While you pray and fast and seek your Pastor’s spiritual advice, it is also very important to speak with certified counselors and therapists that can help you navigate the psychological and emotional crossroads.

That is why we are so for Aunty Betty Irabor’s advice on this matter as shared on her Instagram page:

My message to couples esp after yesterday’s conference on Marriage is that while you may seek counseling with your pastor in rocky times, remember that not all pastors are bonafide counselors. There are certified counselors and therapists who understand the intricacies of marriage counseling.,seek these professionals. Your pastors can pray with you while you’re receiving professional counseling. It also helps to have marriage mentors who may not have all the answers but from whom you can glean a few insights. Remember above all, that no marriage has it all! Every marriage is work in progress.
