Do You Remember The Names Of These Gorgeous Naija Hairstyles From Way Back? (PHOTOS)



Long before TY Bello, Aisha Augie-Kuta, Kelechi Amadi Obi and the other photographers we all love now, there was J.D. Okhai Ojeikere (1930 – 2014).

In the sixties, he began an amazing photography documentary. He photographed Nigerian women and their evolving hairstyles all over the country. The collection has over 1000 pictures of Nigerian women rocking gorgeous hairstyles, and the pictures have been exhibited at many galleries around the world.

Many of these hair styles are no longer common, but some of the styles will trigger fond memories. Here are 20 pictures from the collection, name as many of the styles below as you remember in the comments:
