Do You Need To Show Proof Of Consent From Your Children’s Father At Immigration Before You Can Be Allowed To Travel With Them?

Last week, a twitter user shared the story of a woman who was stopped at the airport by Nigerian Immigration because she was travelling with her children without a proof of consent from their father.

Many people commented to say they have never experienced such, some people also said the have had to show proof of consent.

Also while some people frowned at it and think it is not appropriate, some others said it is the absolute right thing for the immigration to do, because there has been many cases of women who take children away without their fathers’ consent.

Some of questions are, does it apply to both men and women in Nigeria and also what happens in the case of an absent father who is no longer or has never even been in the life of the child?
