A Tribute To Florence Seriki – Founder Of The First Company To Locally Assemble Computer Cases, Speakers, Keyboards And Mouse In Africa



The Chief Executive Officer and Group Managing Director of Omatek Ventures Plc. Mrs. Florence Seriki is dead.

She is said to have died at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital LUTH after suffering from cancer of the pancreas. She was 54.

Until her death, Seriki was one of Nigeria’s pioneers and foremost indigenous Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) that specialises in the manufacturing of computers and other ICT related devices.

Her companies which she started 25 years ago are the first completely knocked down computer factories in Nigeria and Ghana.

The first of five girls, Florence was born on the 16th of August, 1963. She attended Reagan Memorial Baptist Secondary School and proceeded to the Federal School of Science, Lagos, for her A levels.

She studied Chemical Engineering at the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ife.

She was a fellow of the Nigerian Society of Chemical Engineers, Nigerian Computers Society (NCS) and the Institute of Directors (IoD). She was a former president of the Information Technology Association of Nigeria (ITAN) and also a former Vice-Chairman of the World Information Technology & Services Advisory Board
