Another student of Queen’s College, Lagos, Praise Sodipo has died, making her the third victim of health crisis at the school.
The incidence has taken the lives of two students before Praise died last week Thursday.
It was reported earlier that after the outbreak, 16 pupils were admitted in various hospitals, nine pupils discharged, two died, while one was on admission at the Intensive Care Unit of the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, Ikeja and three in Lagos University Teaching Hospital, Idi Araba.
An SS1 student and an orphan, Praise was the one on life support at the Intensive Care Unit, of the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, Ikeja.
The students were said to have been admitted in various hospitals after eating spaghetti and drinking polluted water.
A parent, who did not want to be named, told Punch,
“She was one of the first set of students that fell ill. She was an orphan. She went into a coma and was on life support, before she eventually passed on. That has made the death toll to be three now.”
Another parent whose child was discharged from the hospital on Thursday, wants the Federal Government to investigate the deaths and prosecute the former principal of the school.
“This should not be swept under the carpet. There have been three deaths because of the carelessness of one person. We have lost these promising ones and their families are now in sorrow. This case must be probed and all those involved brought to book.”
