Herbert Wigwe, MD/CEO of Access Bank Discusses Women Empowerment On CNBC Africa Interview

   

 

CNBC Africa turns its spotlight on Managing Director and CEO of Africa’s foremost financial institution, Access Bank PLC, Mr. Herbert Wigwe in an episode of its highly acclaimed series, Captains of Industry. In the exclusive segment, Mr. Wigwe discusses Access Bank’s success story as a leading innovator and champion of sustainable growth in its industry.

One of the highlights of the interview was the discussion around the inadequate representation of women across the African continent. Herbert stressed the need to empower more women, drawing reference to the old saying, “If you train a woman, if you empower her, you empower the whole family”. He also talked about creating advisory services for women who have also succeeded to help them create succession plans.

Herbert talked about how Access Bank is right there among those creating solutions for and empowering women. He also shed some light on the bank’s Maternal Health Care Support Scheme, a pioneering initiative to help women complete their families, by providing extra financial support for medical procedures, maternity leaves, etc, as part of their humanitarian services.
