Nigerian Couple Arraigned In The US For Child Neglect And Abuse

A US-based, Nigerian couple, Olalekan Olawusi and Arinola Olawusi have been arraigned in court for child neglect and abuse.

Providence Journal reported that, it was discovered that their three-month old child, Tobiloba Olawusi had old and new injuries, bite marks and a fractured skull, broken ribs, arms and legs.

Olalekan Olawusi, the child’s father had called 911 that his child was dying. By the time fire fighters got to their house, Tobiloba wasn’t breathing and didn’t have a pulse, but was revived.

Meanwhile, Arinola revealed that her husband bit the baby and pulled his legs to make him grow and strong.

Both couple have now being arraigned in a court. While Arinola was arraigned on a charge of child neglect, Olalekan was arraigned on charges of first- and second-degree child abuse.

Olalekan has been ordered to surrender his Nigerian passport and granted a bail of $40,000 with surety.

The couples have also been ordered not to have any contact with the baby, while an older sibling is already in foster care.
