Lara Oshiomole Becomes A Citizen Of Nigeria

Believe it or not, there are many foreigners who still like to have Nigerian citizenship, and not all of them are granted.

Lara Oshiomhole, wife of former Edo state governor, has just been granted citizenship by the Federal Government. Lara, who is from Cape Verde was granted alongside 334 other foreign nationals.

TheCable reported that out of over 500 foreigners that applied, only 335 applicants were considered.

The minister of interior, Abdulrahman Dambazau explained that 245 of the foreigners approved were granted citizenship by‎ naturalisation while 90 were by registration, mainly foreign women married to Nigerians.

According to the minister, the approval was part of government’s effort on the ‘Ease of doing business in Nigeria’ and boosting Nigeria’s image in line with international best practice.

Abdulrahman promised to sustain the exercise on an annual basis as the last time such ceremony was conducted was in December 2013.
