‘Welcome Our Dear Girls’ – 82 Released Chibok Girls Receive Official Welcome In Abuja

Eighty-two Chibok schoolgirls have been released after negotiations between Boko Haram and the Nigerian government.  According to the Nigerian government, they were released in exchange for some boko haram terrorists that were in custody.

The government secured the release with intervention by the International Committee of the Red Cross.

The girls were said to have been flown from Banki near the border with Cameroon to Maiduguri and then Abuja, where they were taken for medical checkup before being taken to the presidential villa.

President Buhari also met with them today to welcome them and reassure Nigerians of their efforts to rescue the remaining girls.
They are believed to be among the 276 girls kidnapped from their school in Chibok in April 2014.
