Mrs. Taiwo Momoh, the 58-year-old textile dealer, who wanted to commit suicide by jumping into the lagoon has been freed by the court.
Momoh was charged to court for attempted suicide after she was rescued by the police from jumping down the Third Mainland Bridge.
Punch reported that Momoh had asked for mercy after her first arraignment.
Momoh had been depressed and frustrated over an accumulated debts of over N18m and her shop was also reportedly burgled around the time.
After the court announced that she had been freed, as advised by the Directorate of Public Prosecutions, Momoh was said to have knelt down and gave praises to God.

Immediately she got out of the court, she covered her face with two sets of clothes and ran out to avoid the questioning from journalists and people in the community.
