Nnedi Okorafor’s ‘Who Fears Death’ In Early Development As HBO TV Series

It is good to see more writers having their novels adapted into a movie but such doesn’t happen overnight, Nnedi Okoroafor says.

The author, whose award-winning book has just been optioned by HBO into a TV series explained that it took almost four years to achieve.

According to a Facebook post by Nnedi, the book, “Who Fears Death,” is ‘now in early development as a TV series.’

“Who Fears Death,” tells the story of Onyesonwu, a woman living in post-apocalyptic Sudan, where the dark-skinned Okeke people live as second class citizens oppressed and murdered by the lighter-skinned Nuru.

Onyesonwu’s mother was an Okeke woman who was raped by her Nuru father who, like Onyesonwu, possesses a variety of magical abilities
