In acknowledgment of her achievements as an author and public scholar, Nigerian author, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, has been awarded an Honorary Degree of Doctor of Letters at the University of Edinburg.
According to the university’s website, Chimamanda will also be taking part at the university’s International Book Festival, where she will be interviewed about her work.
The Director of the Centre of African Studies, Dr Barbara Bompani, who recommended Chimamanda for the award explained that, Chimamanda has influenced people’s lives and creativity through her stories.
According to her, Chimamanda’s writing, advocacy, and public engagement, stirs people to understand theirs and other peoples’ stories.
For Chimamanda, she feels honored to be among the people who have been honoured by the University.
