The emergence of Oluchukwu Ajulufo, as the governorship candidate of the Labour Party for Nov. 18 election in Anambra shows that there is progress in the inclusion of women in Nigerian politics.
Ajulufo, a journalist, was declared winner of the primaries following votes from a 64-man delegate.
NAN reported that Ajulufo is the second female to come forward as governorship candidate in the state.
The National Chairman of Labour Party, Alhaji Abdulkadir Abdulsalam, explained that Ajulufo won the exercise because she met up with the electoral guidelines.
According to him, he believes that Ajulufo will win the approaching governorship election in Anambra.
Reacting to her victory, Ajulufo said,
“If elected, I will ensure security of lives and property, employment opportunities for youths and women and robust agricultural programmes to make the state the food basket of the nation, among others.”
