Maid Confesses To Using Rats To Cook Jollof Rice For Her Boss

A housemaid who prepared jollof rice for her boss with two rats confessed to the act when she was caught by her boss’ son. The housemaid, Felicia was said to have been brought from Cotonou, a neighbouring country.

Although, the reason why she did that wasn’t stated, online reports claimed Felicia did so to punish her boss, who maltreated her.

While Felicia’s act is condemnable, it is  good to note that employers need to treat their maids right because ‘your life is in their hands’. We also need to to stop employing underaged girls. There is a need for a law against employing young girls as maids, young girls should be under the protective care of their parents and not be used as househelps.

As usual, most Nigerians are missing the point. Stop employing underage children. That girl can’t be more than 13-15 years old.

How would you feel if you’re shipped like cargo by your parents to work when you can see other children of your age being loved and pampered by their parents? That girl is rebelling in the best way she knows how to. It’s a psychological thing but because we are a country that loves to sensationalize evil we will rather call her a witch or possessed. It’s sad that even though they must have sent her away, the trafficking agent (yes that’s what they are) will still take her somewhere else.

Stop child labour and abuse! That should be the main message and I guess that’s why the employer wasn’t proud to show her own face in the shared viral video.

You said the truth, underage isn’t really the factor if you treat them right you’d get same response from them
