The Presidency has appointed Aishah Ahmad as the CBN deputy governor and she is to resume work immediately.
Ahmad was appointed to take the place of the former deputy governor, Sarah Alade, who retired earlier this year.
With over 20 years experience in top banking, Ahmad was the Executive Director (Retail Banking) at Diamond Bank Plc before her appointment. She also has experience working with the NAL Bank Plc, Stanbic IBTC Bank Plc and Zenith Bank Plc.
She is also the chairperson of the executive council of Women in Management, Business and Public Service (WIMBIZ), a Nigerian non-profit organisation, established to tackle issues affecting the interest of women professionals in business, promote leadership development as well as build competence for growth.
She is also a member of the Chartered Financial Analyst and Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst.
She is a Master of Science holder in Finance & Management from the Cranfield School of Management in the UK, a Master of Business Administration holder in finance from the University of Lagos and an accounting graduate from the University of Abuja.
She is married to a retired brigadier-general with two sons.
