Crystal Kay Is Promoting Diversity And Body-Positivity Through Her Hand Made Dolls With Birth Marks, Albinism, Burn Scars And Other Peculiarities

While it is common to see beautiful slim-shaped dolls with pink lips and long soft hair, a US-based woman, Crystal Kay,  is changing the narrative through her custom-made dolls.

With a passion for crafting, Crystal hand-makes dolls and customizes them with different sizes, skin tones, eye colors, hairstyles, and skin conditions like Vitiligo or Albinism.

This is to represent the different kinds of beauty that exists in the world and promote body-positivity.  Noticing the gap in other dolls, Crystal decided to create her own designs.

“There’s not a lot of reflection out there as far as various medical and skin conditions, and that’s where the ideas came from for the Vitiligo, Albinism, and so on. The possibilities with these dolls are endless because there’s so much diversity in the world,” she told Cosmpolitan.

Crystal’s inspiration comes from the life of everyday people.
