Matel Eyengho shares her journey to becoming a mother 15 years after she got married

   

“This thing has come again. Jesus, why again! Will it ever happen? Why me? Everybody in my family has given birth to babies. Why me?” are the questions Matel Eyengho used to ask herself whenever she sees her period.

Wife of a Nollywood producer, Matel had been married for 15 years without having a child. She had prayed and fasted and had once made up her mind to stop praying for a child.

Not in a hurry will she forget the pains, the gossips and the cries of childlessness because it was a long journey.

Seeing the children that were born in her presence, including those who were flower girls at her wedding getting married and having kids added to her tears.

Although, there was no pressure from her in-laws but her family was worried, wondering what was wrong. Infact, she had a good support system in her sister-in-law, who always encouraged and pray for her. Even her husband stood solidly behind her.

Yet, she was deeply worried on why her babies were not coming despite the prayers made.

The day Matel realized she was pregnant will never be forgotten in a hurry because her joy was full and she couldn’t contain her excitement.

“Is this me? So, it finally happened,” she asked herself. Today, she is a mother of twin boys. Her babies will be one year on November 30.
