Asisat Oshoala Silences Her Critics as She Wins the African Women’s Player of the Year for the Third Time

   

Not even her dad could contain his joy as he burst into tears watching his daughter receive the award on TV. “Where are my critics?” seem to be the question on the mind of football player, Asisat Oshoala as received the African Women’s Player Award of the year for the third time.

In 2017, Asisat had come under heavy criticism for leaving Arsenal Ladies for Dalian Quanjian, a professional Chinese Football club.

Following the feats she achieved in the club including this new one, Asisat seemed to have silenced her critics.

“2017 has truly been an emotional journey for me. This is truly one of the best moments in my career. I want to encourage out there not to let people discourage you and to follow your own heart. I never thought that I would win this award. So many people had written me off because I left Arsenal for the women’s league in China. It has not been easy but I’m grateful for this award.”
