Because of the history they are making as the first African team to compete in the bobsleigh sport, Seun Adigun, Akuoma Omeoga and Ngozi Onwumere, have been featured in the latest installment of Beats by Dr. Dre’s global “Above the Noise” campaign.
Beats by Dr. Dre is a subsidiary of Apple Inc. that produces audio products and their campaign features the world’s most ambitious and adventurous athletes in winter sports.
The one-minute clip displays the power of the three athletes. It shows how they must maintain a powerful focus, show a strong drive to represent Nigeria and perform at the highest level.
“You can live in your own legacy, but you’ve got to start somewhere. You’ve got to open the door. Our goal is to create a legacy where people will never be limited by the fear of the unknown,” one member of the team said in the video.
Though it’s their first time competing on the winter sport, the ladies aren’t beginners to competition. They are all former top-flight college sprinters and hold a dual Nigerian-American citizenship.
