Jayne Whyte is a Development Specialist, Infant and Young Child Feeding Counselor, Blogger, Entrepreneur and the Creator of the Smart Woman’s Life Planner. She is a strong advocate of maternal and child nutrition, working with the Scaling Up Nutrition Network to reduce malnutrition in Northern Nigeria and using social media to hold the Government of Nigeria accountable and dispel myths around feeding practices.
Jayne runs the Smart Woman Resource Center, where she is coaching girls and young women to develop skills, discover their power to influence their future, love themselves and make smarter decisions.

If you were the President for one day and you have the power to fix one thing in Nigeria, what will it be and WHY?
Constitution review! My idea of constitution review/ restructuring is giving more power to the states and that allows even the smallest communities to benefit and the people can easily hold their state government accountable.
What is the most annoying thing you have heard people say about women in Nigeria?
I have heard heard a lot of things but the one thing I have heard that beats my imagination is that career driven women are threats to their husbands.
What is the one most important thing about being a woman that you would want your daughter to know?
I would want my daughter to know that she is genuinely loved and that she can have it all; family, career and much more.
Do you believe in gender equality? Why or Why not?
I believe in gender equality. This is because men and women were created equal and what is good for the man is good for the woman.
If you were able to live to the age of 90 and retain either the mind or body of a 30-year old, which would you choose?
The body of a 30-year old.
What is your opinion of the Nigerian woman?
That she is strong, beautiful and talented. The Nigerian woman is one that rises above the limits.
If you could wake up tomorrow having gained one special quality or ability, what would it be?
That I can predict the future.
If a crystal ball could tell you the truth about yourself, your life, the future or anything else, what would you want to know? Why or why not?
I would want to know if I’ll change my mind about having more kids or even just one. Lol.
Your house, containing everything you own, catches fire. After saving your loved ones, you have time to safely make a final dash to save any one item What would it be? Why?
My Smart Woman Life Planner because it contains my well documented goals, detailed implementation plans, and strategies for the next five years. I spent a lot of time thinking through so I would not want to loose it.
If you don’t have to worry about making money, what would you do all day?
Read, travel and change lives.
If you could go back in time, what year would you travel to? What happened that year?
I would not want to go back in time.
How do you think your friends would describe you?
Introverted, very formal, go-getter, purpose driven, hardworking, foodie and a friend who’s got their backs.
Would you like to be famous? In what way?
Yes. Famous for changing the status quo. Changing negative policies, attitudes, behaviors, people, things and situations to the positive.
Is there something that you’ve dreamt of doing for a long time? Why haven’t you done it?
Travelling to the Caribbean islands. Insufficient funds (Like the ATM display)
Would you be willing to have horrible nightmares for a year if you would be rewarded with extraordinary wealth for a life time? Why or Why not?
I would be willing to have horrible nightmares, after all they are ‘night’ so to avoid all the drama, I’ll sleep during the day, work at night and enjoy the money. Shikena!
