A software engineer turned make-up artiste, Duchess Alexis got married to her husband on the 20th of January and like any other woman, it was her happiest day.

While people are speculating on the reason for the frown, Duchess, in a chat with Woman.Ng said it is her tradition.

“I am from Ijaw, in Bayelsa state to be precise and it is my tradition that when a girl comes out at her first outing, she’s been covered with wrapper and her husband first identifies her. Once he unveils and identifies her, she frowns, and he starts spraying until she smiles, which means she has accepted the man’s proposal. So, friends and family comes out to come out and spray until she smiles.”

On how long she frowned for, she said that, “It depends on both parties. They usually agree before they come out. Like I and my husband, we agreed that once I start seeing the N1000 notes, then I can smile.”

Duchess revealed that she made over a hundred thousand naira from the frown even though she blamed the MC, who told a joke and it got her laughing sooner than she wanted.

We wish Duchess a happy married life.
