Michelle Dede’s Unpleasant Experience with Policemen Who Target and Harass Women in Lekki

It is a pity that the people we rely on for safety are the ones terrorizing us. Sadly, they not only disrespect you, they violate you in the process of ‘carrying out their jobs.’

Media personality, Michelle Dede recounted her experience with some policemen at a checkpoint at Adebimpe drive in Lekki phase one, while coming back from a vigil.

According to her, they operate between 9pm to 7am – harassing people. They had stopped the taxi she boarded and requested a search but instead, started searching her bag and purse.

When she confronted them, they resorted to calling her names, including a prostitute. Michelle said it has happened to her many times, and now she fears for another woman who may be alone on this road.

She has advised women to avoid Adebimpe drive in Lekki phase one, between 9pm to 7am.
