Anthonia Nneji is a visual artist, photographer, art blogger and graffiti artist. A graduate of visual arts from the University of Lagos, Anthonia has always gravitated towards Arts as a child, having come from a lineage of traditional carvers, who carved totems, figurines used for traditional worship.
Some of her work address issues in the society that has little or no form of awareness. They are mostly health issues affecting the youths and women.
In this series, i speak of struggles with menstrual cycles, weight, insomnia, depression and the agony of discovering meaningful diagnosis in the collapsed healthcare system in Nigeria. My work is therefore a powerful statement to the courage of the woman's body, and the rather limited male gaze that constantly seek to find erotic stimulations in the presentation of the female body, even when that body is yearning for control over its rights to define her own aesthetic parameters. #pcosawarenessmonth #PCOS #PCOSAWARENESS #creativeindustrynarrative #africanartcollector SOLD
" IF U REALLY WANTED TO LOSE WEIGHT, YOU COULD"………… 🙄Pls get educated about PCOS before saying something stupid. The struggle is real. Most people don't correlate anxiety, depression and moodswing to PCOS. Having to deal with unbalanced hormones can be really crazy and emotional. #pcosawareness #PCOS #septemberforpcos #cyster
I donated this work to @booksovertrays a charity organization to further the 'NO TO GIRL CHILD HAWKING IN NIGERIA' initiative. I am happy to announce it was auctioned and has found her new home. This is my own little contribution to the society. I do art not just for art sake but art for life's sake. Congratulations to me and the beneficiaries. My work has set a new record!
