Watch an 11-year-old Meghan Markle take on a feminism cause long before she even knew what the word means

The new Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle is proudly feminist. Her official biography on the palace’s website also refers to her charity work and speech where she declared she was ‘proud to be a woman and feminist’ She has been a feminist long before she even knew what it meant. She was only 11 years old when she saw a soap commercial during a social studies assignment back in elementary school.  She was bothered by the advert that said “Women all over America are fighting greasy pots and pans” especially after two boys in her class said “Yeah, that’s where women belong- in the kitchen” SEE ALSO: What It Is Really Like For Annie Idibia To Be A Mother And Wife Chasing Her Own Dreams She felt the commercial was sexist and it wasn’t right and something had to be done. So, she wrote letters to Hillary Clinton, the then first lady of America, Linda Ellerbee and Gloria Allred. Meghan also wrote to the manufacturing company that had the soap advert. To her surprise, she got letters of encouragement from the women. A month later, the soap manufacturer, Proctor and Gamble changed the advert to “People all over America are fighting greasy pots and pans.” Watch her speak about it below https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tfaGleA4qYo   https://www.facebook.com/TheIndependentOnline/videos/10156062327401636/
