“What a way to start married life” 25-year old Zimbabwean woman, Zanele Ndlovu, whose arm was bitten off by a crocodile, told her doctors.
Days to her wedding, Zanele and her British husband, Jamie Fox were paddling in an inflatable boats on River Zambezi-the border between Zimbabwe and Zambia, when a crocodile jumped out, grabbed Zanele and pulled her into the water. It tore off her right arm and bit her left arm.
In Zimbabwe, crocodiles are reportedly the biggest animal killers and the couple had been told by their tour guide that it was rare to come across a crocodile in the river but it could happen.
Thankfully, the timely intervention of surgeons saved Zanele’s life as she lost so much blood in the attack. Her arm had to be amputated as it was just hanging off.
Five days later, Zanele got married to her husband at the hospital’s chapel.
