A 39-year old mother of five, Eunice Uche Atuejide has shown interest in contesting for the post of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in the 2019 election.
For this purpose, she founded the National Interest Party, a technology driven political party designed to conduct party elections and congresses online, which has been approved by the Independent National Electoral Commission.
Born and raised in Lagos, Eunice hails from Enugu state. She is a legal practitioner, businesswoman and politician.
According to Eunice, the political party is a platform made up of young people from different backgrounds and educational qualifications, who are willing to work hard for the betterment of every Nigerian.
The purpose of the party is said to drive progress in the country by consciously seeking, and bringing credible and highly patriotic Nigerians to power, using digital media.
“Considering the limited resources open to us, we decided the best option was to use the power and magic of the internet to achieve our aims. We believe that the internet is the best weapon to use in bringing down the deep-rooted clout of the existing political class; to dismantle the sense of personal ownership of our commonwealth; to end the level of impunity with which unscrupulous leaders run our country,” it reads on their website.
The political party also promises to gather and screen reliable Nigerians from across the globe and encourage them to contest elections at all levels in Nigeria. It also promises to install leaders who will earnestly work together to help Nigeria recover from decades of mismanagement of her resources and hopes to achieve this by using the powers of the internet in its organisation, coordination of affairs, and communications.
“The internet will help NIP in the quest to reach the grassroots in record time at low costs; to re-orient our younger generations particularly kids in primary, secondary, vocational and tertiary institutions of learning,” its mission statement reads.
Education, health, economy and security are four key areas that the National Interest Party hopes to tackle.
With an unwavering faith in the country and its people, Eunice hopes she would be elected as the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in 2019.
