Yetide Badaki is a Nigerian-born, American actress who just joined the Season 3 of NBC drama series, This is Us, as a recurring character.
She is popularly known for her role as Bilquis in the series, American Gods, because of her representation of the goddess of love.
In This is Us, Yetide plays the role of Chichi, a Nigerian immigrant whom William met about 15 years ago, when she moved into his building, pregnant and single.
In the past, William befriended the young widow as she struggled with her infant daughter, Sky. Yetide’s character is re-introduced in the present, when Randall brings his foster daughter, Déjà to the recreation center near William’s apartment to introduce her to Sky.
Yetide first made a name for herself in 2014 when she featured in the series, Sequestered. She later joined the cast of American Gods, an adaptation of the popular novel by Neil Gaiman.
After earning a degree in English literature at McGill University, she went on to complete her Master’s degree in Theatre at Illinois State University.
She was born in Nigeria and moved to England at the age of three. She became a US citizen in 2014.
