When One Man’s Poison Is Another Woman’s Meat – Let’s Talk About Nigeria, DJ Cuppy and King Wole

This year’s Independence day, which was celebrated on the 1st of October, didn’t get as much attention as the past ones, which is understandable due to the situation of the country. With the state of the economy, the rate of poverty, crime and other  incidences happening in the country, not many people think the independence was worth celebrating.

However, like any patriotic citizen of their country would do, Florence Otedola, popularly known as DJ Cuppy wished Nigeria a happy independence day with a simple tweet, and it got a lot of mixed reactions.

“Today, we experience the joy and pride of being called NIGERIANS! The greatest nation. #NigeriaAt58 #NigerianIndependeceDay,” she tweeted.

While some people think that the angry reaction to her tweet wasn’t needed as she is not the reason for Nigeria’s woes, some think she is not empathetic because she comes from a wealthy family and isn’t affected by Nigeria’s situation.
