In 2008, Faith Green had been instrumental in helping her ex-husband, Gregory Green get temporary release before the completion of his maximum sentence period as he was remorseful for his earlier crime. Gregory had stabbed his former wife, who was seven months pregnant, to death.
Eight years later, Gregory struck again. This time, he killed all of Faith’s four children, while Faith missed death by a whisker. Gregory murdered his two step-children, the oldest was 19 and his own two daughters, youngest was 5. While Faith was bounded with duct tape, stabbed and beaten.
September 21st 2016, is a day she will never forget. Life for her has been a struggle as she misses her children and is struggling with depression.
Two years after the incidence, Faith spoke out for the first time. According to her, she never saw the signs of domestic violence in Gregory.
“We have got to know the signs. A lot of the time, we don’t know the signs, she said. I didn’t know the signs,” she says to Click On Detroit.
Talking about how much she misses her kids, Faith said, it’s hard when she sees people with their kids, adding that she has a lot of bad days. Faith is so depressed that sometimes, she has to give herself some pep talks before she gets anything done.
To keep the memory of her children alive, Faith is planning a memorial for her children to raise money for scholarships.
“I hope it helps someone else who lost a child to murder or disease. When you lose a child, I can’t even explain it. When you’re a mom and you give birth and that connection? It’s a hard thing to deal with. Whether it’s one, whether it’s four — it’s a hard thing to deal with. I don’t know if you ever really come to the realization of it,” she said.
