Patience Ibekwe Abdallah Becomes Deputy Inspector-General of Police

Patience Ibekwe Abdallah has been promoted to the post of Deputy Inspector-General of Police.

The Police Service Commission had approved the promotion of three Assistant Inspectors-General of Police to the position of Deputy Inspector-General of Police and Patience is the only woman among the officers.

Before her new position, she was appointed the commissioner of police in Ebonyi state in 2015. When she resumed her duty in the state, Patience introduced “Operation Show of Force and Walk Down Crime,” an initiative which was instrumental in drastically reducing crime in the state.

Her partnership with various stakeholders in the state to promote understanding and cooperation also yielded positive reports. She also ordered the dismantling of unnecessary checkpoints allegedly used to exploit motorists

Born on April 7, 1963, Patience’s journey in the Police started 29 years ago, when she was enlisted as a cadet ASP. Her father, Chief Mike Akukalia Ibekwe, was Commissioner of Police in the old East Central State, immediately after the civil war

She is married to Mustapha Abdallah, chairman of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).
