Some years ago, veteran actress, Patience Ozokwor, popularly known as Mama Gee announced that she had become an evangelist. With a change in the way she dresses, the actress has been seen in a number of countries preaching the gospel.

Last year, Patience had an interview, which has just gone viral, with My Today News, a Ghanaian Christian station and there, she talked about her encounter with God and how that became the foundation of her calling.

In the interview, she also talked about how God dealt with her as regards her dressing. According to her, God said he wanted her to do away with artificial things and be natural.

“I know your hair is natural but what I am about to use you to do, is so big that I wouldn’t want you to be wasting time that you will need to be preaching to my people to be telling them, ‘this is my hair o.’ He said, I want your transformation to be complete from head to toe so that people will see it and know that there is a difference between the former Patience and the present Patience,” Patience said, sharing what God had told her.

She also talked about how unhappy God is with Christians dressing indecently, even in the house of God. She explained that God’s message to her is to preach to the church as Christians have gone faraway from God.

“…and the worst is that, they sing praises and worship with their hearts and I come down to dwell amongst them and I see them. Some of them are almost naked, some of them makeup in such a way that you don’t even recognise the person anymore. I can’t even recognise the person I created, the, I go back,” Patience said, noting that Christianity isn’t about the heart alone, just like it is popularly said.

According to her, it is time for Christians to go back to the drawing board as they are known by how people see them.

“The Lord said we should come back. The world should be separate from the church. Let us know who you are. If you have repented and you have not changed your wardrobe, you still have a long way to go,” she said.

However, Patience’s last statement have generated a lot of conversation online as many have been bearing their minds about how Christians should dress. While some said, salvation was in the heart, some agreed with Patience’s message.
