This Is Why This 60-Year Old Grandma Quit Her Teaching Job For Tricycle Business

Many people prefer to work for government parastatal because of the benefits like, job security; the flexible working environment; time flexibility and the fair remuneration.

However, the government can be very unreliable when it comes to paying its workers, which is one of the reasons 60-year old Olayinka Onabanjo left her teaching job.

Popularly called, ‘Grandma Maruwa’ Olayinka is the oldest of the women driving tricycle in Ibadan. She plies Oja-oba, Beere and Molete road.

“I used to be a teacher but when I realized how the government is treating us- we work till old age without our salaries paid and we were always hungry. I decided to quickly join the transportation business,” she told BBCYoruba.
