Tolu Falode shares how her late uncle influenced her life and career choices. Tolu remembers his labor of love as she graduates from the Nigeria Law School and is called to bar.

She wrote,

Thats my Uncle: Brother Shuaib. He was a father figure in my life and I remember so clearly how he had my whole life planned out for me including my marriage lol 😂 I’m not even joking 😂 and I think this picture summarizes that lol yes thats me wearing his shades-I saw first through his eyes: He pushed me, he scolded me, he moulded me, he taught me not only academically but also in being a better sister to Toba especially and now for that: I am BEYOND GRATEFUL .
.
Brother Shuaib was also reading law at the same campus I was admitted to which was very emotional for me. I remember walking down that campus for the first time and the first thought I had was this was the same route Brother Shuaib took to class everyday. These were some of his lecturers as well. I remember thinking when they used to frustrate us in class how did Brother Shuiab manage to drop Toba and I in school and then rush to class?

He was studying law at that time and he was there for all my events in primary school and Toba’s as well and even took me to secondary school for the first time: I still remember his smile and wave on that first day as I turned back to see him peeping through the gates .
.
Brother Shuaib passed in 2002-before he got called to the Bar-Before I could thank him properly for his early influence over my life. He shaped Toba and I in ways I cannot explain in a caption. Now as a “NEW WIG” I honor the memory of my Uncle: Brother Shuaib.

As I wore my wig and gown the first time I became aware that there were many footsteps that walked me this far-even if I cannot see them again I can feel them: his smile and his genuine happiness and pride for me and I can also feel Toba encouraging me .
.
This is in honor of you Brother Shuaib. Thank You. I am now Jadesola Toluwalase Falode Esquire, Barrister and Solicitor Of The Supreme Court Nigeria and Attorney In the State of New York: First of her name and her lineage🔥

Thank You Daddy for allowing me to honor my family. 🔥🙏🏾
