This week, the Department of State Services (DSS) announced that it had arrested a woman known as Amina Mohammed or Justina Onuoha, who paraded herself as Nigeria’s First Lady, Aisha Buhari.

DSS said that Amina once paraded herself as the first lady of Kogi State before gaining access to the presidential villa as the first lady.

It was reported that Amina took advantage of the fact that influential personalities are not taken through thorough protocol and security checks at the Villa post.

Amina was said to have defrauded one Dr Alexander Okafor of over N150m after inviting him to the presidential villa and making him believe that it was in the knowledge of Aisha, who was away on lesser hajj at the time.

Meanwhile, Amina denied being a fraudster as she insists that she only arranges transactions in Federal Government real estate, with the assistance of top government officials who had been benefiting from such.

She noted that the first lady’s sisters and other influential people know about it.

While Amina has been accused of impersonation and fraud by the DSS, Nigerians are angry at the fact that she is being paraded before journalists before the court makes its declaration.

More disturbing is the way she is being treated by these journalists.

A video shows Amina, who quickly covered her face on sighting journalists. While other journalists were asking her to uncover her face, a female journalist is seen forcefully trying to take the clothes off her face while Amina insists on having her face covered.

“You will not do that to me,” she says as she tries hard to cover her face. “I am a citizen of this country. I am not an armed robber,” she is heard sobbing as she was mobbed by journalists and hounded under a table while pleading that she be left alone.
