Nigeria’s Super Falcons striker, Asisat Oshoala, has temporarily joined FC Barcelona on loan from her Chinese Club, Dalian Quanjian FC.
Asisat has been with Quanjian since February 2017 after she left Arsenal Ladies. Her agreement with FC Barcelona will last for the 2018/2019 football season as her Chinese club is in its off-season.
Asisat has been named African Footballer of the Year on three occasions (2017, 2016 & 2014) and won the Golden Boot and Golden Ball at the U20 World Cup in 2014 and was top goalscorer in the Chinese Super League in 2017. She won her third Women’s Africa Cup of Nations with the Super Falcons in Ghana last year, scoring three goals as Nigeria lifted the title for a ninth time.
Asisat who is excited about the opportunity to play for Barcelona said that her goal is to “strengthen the team and help them to win and make history. This is a fantastic opportunity because I’m sure something big will happen here” it read on FC Barcelona’s website.
