It’s a roller coaster of emotions for both a mother and her child when on the first day of school. While the child is crying because he is being separated from his mother, the mother feels both anxiety and excited at the same time.

Excited that her child is growing and starting a new chapter in their life, anxious that their child may not feel safe in his new environment. However, at the end, the mother and the child adjusts to the new way of life.

Media personality, Dolapo Oni talks about how she felt on her son’s first day at pre-school.

She said,

Taking him to school in the morning before I dropped him off to pick him up in the afternoon was very difficult especially when you’re very attached to your child. When I dropped him off on his first day and it was time to leave, I waved and kissed him goodbye. So, I moved outside the gate to see his reaction but he wasn’t paying any attention.

By the time he noticed I was leaving, he looked up and at that instant, I saw a look of panick on his face. He started moving from the table and try to run towards me and then the look on his face was so heartbreaking.

I was disturbed, so I just turned and said bye, and then he started crying. I got in the car and cried and then I went home.

It’s always a emotional rollercoaster when they start school especially if you have a clingy child.

I have a feeling my daughter won’t cry though.
