Elizabeth Kperrun Wins The Inaugural Champions of Science – Africa Storytelling Challenge

Congratulations to Elizabeth Kperrun, a winner in the Champions of Science – Africa Storytelling Challenge.

Championed by Johnson & Johnson, the Africa Storytelling Challenge aim to give innovators a platform to make their important stories heard so as to build public engagement and support for science, and inspire Africa’s young women and men to pursue careers in science and innovation.

The Challenge, which received more than 100 entries from scientists and innovators in 22 African nations, had five winners including Elizabeth, who is from Nigeria.

Described as improving her communities and helping to inspire the next generation to pursue scientific fields that will have the potential to drive Africa’s socio-economic transformation, Elizabeth will receive a $5,000 cash prize, publication of their stories, and international publicity.


Elizabeth is the CEO of Zenafri Limited, an app that teaches toddlers basic language and numeracy skills in their native tongue. She has developed educational apps and animated video content for children in Africa. Her award-winning products help students understand the importance of preserving and promoting African culture.

To date, her apps have been downloaded more than 120,000 times, and daily active users average 2,500.
