American singer, Kelly Rowland is reiterating the truth that there is no one way to be beautiful.
Over the years, the world has dictated how beautiful women should look but in recent years, women are reclaiming their identity and re-defining by their own standards.
Through a new music video titled “Crown”, Kelly Rowland is aiming to empower young girls with the confidence to love and flaunt their hair.
The video features young girls who have been called hurtful names because of their hair and how some of them have had to cut it because they couldn’t take the bullying. However, with Kelly Rowland’s video, she’s teaching young girls to love their hair because its their crown.
“It don’t matter how I wear it, it’s beautiful in every color. Long, short, straight or curly, I love what I see in the mirror”, her lyrics said.
On her own experience, she said,
Growing up I felt many of the pressures young girls face today when it comes to embracing their hair, but my mom would always tell me that your hair is your crowning glory and you should wear it proudly. This song is very personal to me and, having met many of the real girls who inspired it, I am incredibly proud to be partnering with Dove to spark this conversation and encourage girls everywhere to love their hair”.
