For over three decades, Sola Sobowale has remained an actor, amazingly, one of the most relevant veterans in the industry. From the 80s to this present era, Sola continues to wow her audience with the beauty of her craft. Her feature in the movies, The Wedding Party and The King of Boys, authenticates the fact that the actress didn’t lose her skill with time.
Having seen the evolution of the Nigerian movie industry, Sola compares how things used to be to this present time.
In an interview with Genevieve Magazine she said,
“Years back, your parents would never allow you go into the [film] industry because there was this belief that Nollywood was for… lowlifes. But today the story is different; today we have parents pushing their kids into entertainment because they now realize that theatre art is equally a noble profession as any profession you have out there.
Now, we are doing things in a better way than we used to. Investors are coming in now more than they did years ago when Nigerians believed in only oil. I would say that the creative industry gave Nigeria a name in the international scene. Years back, we were only known for all manner of vices, but nowadays you travel to the Western world and you see movies from Nollywood and [songs from] the music industry all around the world.”
