With a final grade point of 9.263%, a 28-year-old Nigerian woman, Stella Chinelo Emelife broke the records of the University of Mysore in India.
For her feat in MSc Chemistry, Chinelo received 20 gold medals and five cash prizes, the highest ever in post-graduation studies, during the varsity’s 99th convocation.
According to The Hindu, Chinelo’s achievement is perhaps the first time in the recent years that a foreign student has bagged so many gold medals. The University of Mysore has over 1,000 foreign students pursuing UG and PG courses in colleges affiliated to it.
A native of Anambra state, Chinelo reportedly topped her class at Usmanu Danfodiyo University in Nigeria, where she studied BSc in Applied Chemistry.
With a desire to find a solution to Nigeria’s ills through chemistry, Chinelo is hoping to return to the University for a PhD.
